For the third consecutive year, Eastmont Community Center (ECC) is collaborating with Golden State Opportunity (GSO) and CalEITC4Me to welcome a dedicated cohort of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) members. These volunteers, now fully certified through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, are playing a crucial role in ECC’s efforts to provide free tax preparation services throughout the 2025 tax season.
From assisting at ECC’s community tax events to participating in GSO’s Tacos & Taxes initiative, AmeriCorps members are helping residents navigate tax filing and maximize their refunds. Their work underscores the importance of financial accessibility, ensuring that individuals and families can claim the credits they are entitled to.
“Our AmeriCorps members are making a real difference,” said Andy Rodriguez, Organizing Manager overseeing the program. “By providing free tax preparation, they are empowering people to access the financial resources they deserve.”
The AmeriCorps team will continue working with ECC and GSO through April 15, ensuring that residents of East Los Angeles receive vital support during tax season.
