Eastmont Community Center has announced a series of updates to its East LA Farmers Markets, including the launch of a voucher program in partnership with Food Access LA and LAUSD, a new operating schedule at the Civic Center location, and the closing date for the Cal State LA market.
As part of a wellness initiative supported by LAUSD and implemented by Food Access LA, select families are now receiving $50 vouchers to spend on food-related items at the East LA Farmers Market – Civic Center. The program, which runs through June 2026, allows families to purchase fresh produce, prepackaged items, and hot meals from local vendors.
The vouchers are available to parents whose children participate in a cooking and nutrition course developed by Common Threads and LAUSD’s Wellness Program. Designed to teach families how to prepare healthy meals and encourage shopping locally, the course is offered by invitation only to income-eligible households, selected by the participating schools.
While public enrollment is not required, Eastmont Community Center will document the program’s reach by sharing stories and images of participating families over the coming months as part of its broader fundraising and community engagement efforts.

New Market Hours & Location Update
East LA Farmers Market – Civic Center: effective May 3, 2025, the will shift its hours to 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., one hour earlier than its current 9:00 a.m. opening.
The Cal State LA Market will conclude its current run at the end of the month. The final market day at that location will be Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Eastmont Community Center continues to expand access to local, healthy food while supporting small vendors and neighborhood economies through its farmers markets and related programs.
