EAST LOS ANGELES FARMERS’ MARKET EXPANDS TO INCLUDE MORE FARM FRESH GOODS, A CULTURAL EVENTS SERIES, AND FREE COMMUNITY SERVICES IN CONJUNCTION WITH SUPERVISOR HILDA SOLIS’ SHOP EAST L.A. CAMPAIGN

The 100% Certified Farmers’ Market Moves to Iconic Whittier Blvd. with double the Exhibitors, Live Entertainment, and Mobile Clinics Providing Health Screenings and COVID-19 Vaccination

Expanded Food Offerings, Live Entertainment & Community Services Zones

The East Los Angeles Farmers’ Market will spotlight 35 vendors offering locally crafted artisanal foods and goods alongside neighborhood restaurants in a Flavor of East L.A. section with outdoor seating. Also featured will be an Arts of East L.A. section with artwork from local youth and adults to be exhibited throughout the 6-week event series of the Shop East L.A. experience. Live entertainment will debut at the Market to give local and well-known artists a platform to perform. A Health and Wellness zone will offer rapid health screenings including blood pressure, glucose check, and cholesterol exams. COVID-19 vaccinations will be provided by AltaMed Health Services.

Free parking is available at the East Los Angeles Civic Center. El Sol Shuttle will provide free transit services during market hours. Visitors can also take the Metro Gold Line into East L.A.

Market Match Program

In the Market Match program, people who receive CalFresh (food stamps) will receive $10 in vouchers weekly or monthly (while supplies last) at participating farmers’ markets. Vouchers can only be used on fruits, vegetables and some nuts from certified growers.

End Hunger and Promote Health

We all need to eat more fruits and vegetables to be healthier and protect ourselves from diabetes, cancer, and obesity

Market Match provides free coupons to buy fruits and vegetables that make it easier for thousands of Southern Californians to eat healthier, in collaboration with area farmers’ markets

Improve low-income peoples’ diets by enabling them to purchase healthier food they may not be able to afford

EBT/WIC Assistance

The East Los Angeles Farmers’ Market is a great source to access fresh fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods. Eastmont Community Center is committed to expanding access to these foods for SNAP/CalFresh recipients while supporting economic opportunities for California farmers.

The WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is associated with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, popularly known as WIC. Eligible WIC participants are issued FMNP coupons in addition to their regular WIC benefits. These coupons can be used to buy eligible foods from farmers, farmers’ markets or roadside stands that have been approved by the state agency to accept FMNP coupons.

Eastmont Community Center supports certified farmers and vendors and non-certified vendors such as small businesses, local artisans, and community-based organizations, to create business opportunities as well as provide goods and services to East LA residents.
