Youth Leadership

The Youth Leadership program fosters mutual understanding, respect, and civic engagement from an early age. Youth of grade levels 1st-8th are provided a safe learning environment with the purpose of developing students social and emotional competence. All students are given a service learning project that introduces them the challenges being faced in their community and support with identifying solutions for such challenges which are presented to their peers at the end of the program.

Childcare

In partnership with the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, the Eastmont Early Learning Center provides comprehensive Child Care and Development services to children in the East Los Angeles area. Children are offered a developmental curriculum which will enhance social, cognitive, physical, and emotional growth. The center provides low-income parents a nurturing environment to enroll their children while preparing them for pre-school.

Licensed to operate with a school-like setting

Exposes children to home settings to development their fine motor skills.

Having children in school like settings helps them prepare for a transition into pre-school.

English As a Second Language

In partnership with the Montebello Unified School District, Adult School program, ESL (English as a second language) classes are designed to introduce monolingual Spanish speaking individuals to the English language. Classes will consist of conversations, listening, writing and becoming familiar with the basics of the English language for our everyday use. The goal of the ESL program is to help our clients develop language skills necessary to be successful a citizen of our community.  Students will be introduced to academic, social and cultural aspects of the English language through reading, writing, spelling and listening.

Citizenship Class and Naturalization Assistance

Classes are designed to help prepare lawful permanent residents (LPR’s) for naturalization and promote civic integration through increase knowledge of English, U.S. history and civics. Classes are designed to prepare our clients for the naturalization process, so they may be prepared for the Citizenship Exam. Classes will ensure applicants meet the English and Civics requirements to become a naturalized citizen. 

This course provides practice quizzes and test, as well as interview preparations on how the questions will be asked during the official citizenship test.

Registration is open year-round, and it is free! Classes follow the Montebello Unified School District’s academic calendar.

Requirements: 

Must be registered with Eastmont Community Center
Be at least 18 years of age
Be a lawful permanent resident (green card holder)
Have Resided in the united states as a lawful Permanent resident for at least five years
Have been Physically present in the United States for at least 30 months.
Be a person of good moral character.
Be able to speak, read, write and understand English language.
Have Knowledge of the U.S. Government History and be willing to take the Oath Of Allegiance
